The 20th annual Sierra Nevada World Music Festival will take place on June 21, 22, & 23, 2013 at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds located in the heart of the splendid Anderson Valley in Boonville, California.
The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival is Northern California’s premier roots reggae and world music festival. This year’s initial list of reggae artists to perform features Tuff Gong’s Damian Marley, Stephen Marley and the Ghetto Youth Crew. Sunday night will conclude with the Ivory Coast’s Alpha Blondy performing under a full moon with his outstanding band, The Solar System. Max Romeo will grace the stage this year along with one of Jamaica’s rising stars Protoje and the Indiggnation. Veterans Sister Carol and Cornel Campbell round out the talent from ‘yard’ who will be joined by the sensational California band Groundation and Hawaii’s The Green.
SNWMF 2013 features lots of international talent from Parisians Danakil to England’s Gappy Ranks. Out of Korea come the multi-talented group Windy City. The World Music will include Niger’s Bombino and Fatoumata Diawara who hails from Mali, with lots more announcements to come.
A limited number of discounted ‘Early-Bird’ Tickets to SNWMF 2013 are available online and via mail order through February 28th or until all Early Bird tickets are sold, whichever comes first. Children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paid adult. Limited on-site camping is also available for festival goers.
With 2 stages, along with a “Jamaican-style” Late-Night Dancehall, SNWMF is a great way to kick off your summer. Our festival is very “family-friendly” because we offer an extensive array of children’s activities, including arts and crafts, bounce houses, dance & music workshops, a festival parade and family and alter-able camping. With its beautiful streaming colors and exotic aromas, the international festival village is an attractive marketplace of food and craft booths created by the collective efforts of artists, vendors, staff, volunteers and ticket buyers that has something to offer children of all ages.
The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival typically features dozens of the finest reggae and world music bands, and 2013 will be no exception, as many additional artists will be added in the coming months.
